Hello blog,
Christmas is approaching at the exact same pace it always has since it's a recurring fixed point in time that cycles every 365 to 366 days. It's just that my perception and anticipation of it is greatly heightened by my proximity, specifically approaching and not departing, to the actual date. Woo!
I don't have the same level of jingle-spiritedness that I did when I was a kid because I used to just rake in the gifts. It was awesome. As I get older I realize the deeper meaning of the season and other lessons of blah blah blah... Nothing beats the sheer ignorance and narrow minded focus of youth to amp your excitement levels up to 11 come the annual giftathon. I miss it. I don't know that I'll ever get that back. Well now I have a daughter and I get to live vicariously through her on Christmas. It's going to be fun. She just needs to get old enough to understand holidays.
We got a tree yesterday. We're decorating it tonight. I'm excited to see what it will look like in the new house. I'll have to stock up on hot chocolate. The cats will most likely leave it alone as they have yet to molest any of our other trees. My main concern is Zoe's grabby inquisitiveness. She has a tree at her babysitter's place that seems to be intact so I think we can manage. We had a tree last year, but Zoe wasn't quite walking yet so she didn't mess with it too much. I don't know if ambulation will change things. Regardless, I'm stoked.
My one regret this year is a decided lack of new Christmas music. Funktion had proposed doing a small cd this year, but we couldn't get it together due to schedule conflicts. The last actual Christmas music cd I did was with T.Rox in 2008, which was awesome! I'd like to do the same thing with the Archbishops, but the last bit of this year was a bum rush to arrange two sets of Kiss tunes for the Halloween shows so this Christmas was a bust. Maybe next year if we start early enough. All of this is contingent on us staying together for at least another year. We'll just have to see.
I hope to have more up about the tree and Zoe and Christmas prep at chez Boomhower later. And now pandas!
buh-bye,
Jeremy
