We have achieved Christmas tree. Here it is naked:

We decorated it last night. The lights were a relatively tangle free bundle and we were so thoughtful to put everything in the same bag last year. We are still a little low on ornaments, but that'll change as we accumulate things. One year we had to resort to mostly knick-knacks and toys which is what the original tree ornaments were so I guess we were just going retro. No lit candles though. I bought hot chocolate just so I could sip it and look at the tree by the fireplace humming Christmas tunes. If I put a Santa hat on I think my head would explode with tinsel and candy-cane bits.
Zoe liked it this morning when she say it lit up for the first time. She said, "Ooooh it's shiny." Yup, it's shiny. We'll see how it fairs this year. She was already fondling some of the ornaments when we first set her down. I'm not worried though. Anything she can do to the tree we can undo or fix.
Alrighty. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Soon the bells will start.
